Quarles Leads Lions to 7th Place Finish at Conference Carolinas Women's Cross Country Championship

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Emmanuel College women's cross country team took 7th place at the Conference Carolinas Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning. The Lions put together a score of 205 in the 12 team field. King University captured the Championship Title with all five scorers placing in the top 20.

Leading the Lions was Junior Alexa Quarles who finished in 7th place overall with a time of 24:07.8. Quarles' 6:28.2 average mile earned her a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.

Finishing next for the Lions was Freshman Sarah Green in 28th place with a time of 26:03.2. Freshman Ashley Ledgerwood followed behind with a 47th place time of 27:38.7. Freshman Briannah Henry held the fourth score for the Lions in 58th place with a time of 28:22.6. Rounding out the top five scorers was Senior Priscilla Gosnell in 68th place with a time of 30:57.4. Sophomore Alexandra Sproull wrapped up all of the Lion runners in 71st with a time of 33:49.8.

Next up, the Lions will head to the NCAA DII Southeast Regional Championship on Saturday, November 9th. The Wingate hosted event will see top competition from all over the Southeast United States.
