Lady Lions Place 2nd at Great American Cross Country Festival

CARY, N.C.- The Emmanuel College women's cross country team traveled to Cary, North Carolina to compete at the Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday. The Lady Lions secured a second place team finish with a score of 50 points and a team average time of 21:56 in the women's 5000 meter run.

Junior Alexa Quarles led the Lions once again with a 19th place finish and a time of 20:22.70. Freshman Sarah Green continues to stay on Quarles after lowering her personal record to 20:47.70 to finish in 21st place. Freshman Ashely Ledgerwood was next for the Lions, lowering her personal record to 22:05.80 and finishing 24th. Freshman Briannah Henry finished right behind Ledgerwood in 25th place with a 22:07.90 personal record, senior Priscilla Gosnell followed behind in 29th with a 24:18.30 finish, and redshirt-freshman Alexandra Sproull rounded out the Lions in 30th place with a 24:50.50 personal record.

The ladies will compete again on Friday, October 11th at the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, North Carolina.
