Greenville, NC - The Women's Cross Country teams took to the course at Furman University this past Saturday for their first competition of the year.  "This is a great start for us!  We've been putting in solid training together for nearly a month, so this let's us see where we are with our fitness," said Coach Hall after the race.

Freshman Makayla Hewell had a great showing this weekend for her collegiate debut, clocking a time of 24:48 for the 6,000-meter race, placing her 49th amongst non Division I competition.  Makayla was closely followed by Senior Jazmin Konnick (24:59).  Seniors Coco Ruiz and Gabby Hill came in together posting times of 25:32 and 25:34, respectively, and Senior Lindsey Toole claimed the fifth spot for the Lady Lions in a time of 25:42.  The Lady Lions finished 7th as a team.

This was the first 6,000-meter race for the ladies, but they came out and competed well despite the different distance.  For full results, click here!  http://www.ptgrouponline.com/Live/2015/XC/Furman1/
