BEAUFORT, S.C.—The Emmanuel College Women's Cross Country team competed at the Sandshack Invitational on October 25.

The Lady Lions competed extremely well this past Saturday in South Carolina against 37 other colleges. Despite the hard work and tired legs from the training last week the Lady Lions came in an outstanding 15th place out of 37 teams. Just like in the men's race the women had a lot of good completion and for the Lady Lions to place 15th is remarkable. Leading the Lions was Junior Lindsey Toole coming in 50th place, running a time of (19:20.82). Next to come in for the Lady Lions were Junior Jazmin Konnick coming in 56stplace, running (19:24.18) and Junior Gabriella Hill getting 74th place, with a time of (19:39.58). To round out the top five ladies were Junior Socorro Ruiz coming in 121st place, running a time of (20:38.66) and Sophomore Heidi Schreiber placing 136th place, running a time of (22:34.34). Gabriella Hill ran traffic this weekend, going from never broken 20 minutes in the 5k (5000 meters) to running an outstanding time of 19:39.58. This is a great testament to the work she's been putting in this season.

"This past season has been difficult, shares Junior Jazmin Konnick. This weekend at Sandshark, we ran great; the hard work that we've been putting in has been paying off and it's so encouraging to see my teammates run some of their best times ever. I'm thankful that we ran well this past weekend and get to go to New York and represent our team, our school, but ultimately our Savior."

Coach Ben Hall shared this about the race, "It's encouraging to see our team take the workload that we had this past week and still perform really well this weekend! We got out strong and everyone raced tough, which is what we've been trying to work on this past week."

Coach Ben Hall also had this to say, "I'm super proud of Heidi. She has come from never running competitively before to now being our fifth runner! She dropped over a minute from her previous best time this weekend, completely bypassing the 21's running 20:58 for 5k."

Next and last race of the season for the Lady Lions will be NCCAA Nationals in New York on November 15th.
