Clemson, S.C.—The Women's Cross Country Team competed this past weekend at the Clemson Invitational on August 30.
The Emmanuel Women's Cross Country team competed well at the Clemson Invitational for their first race of the season. This was a very small race with only four teams racing; Clemson University, Furman University, Kennesaw State, and Emmanuel College. Leading the lions was Junior Lindsey Toole, getting 21st place running a time of (20:00.61) for a three mile race. Not far behind Toole to come in second for the Lady Lions was Junior Socorro Ruiz with a time of (20:09.50). To Round out the top five finishers for the Lions: coming third for the Lion's was Junior Gabriella Hill (20:30.58), then Junior Jazmin Konnick running (20:43.15), and lastly Sophomore Neely Hallman coming in at a time of (22:14.35). The Lady Lions would come out with a 4th place finish at the Invitational.
Coach Ben Hall had this to say about the Lions, "I'm pleased with our first race out. Today was just a fitness test to see where we are right now. I think both teams ran fairly tough today, and despite climbing temperatures we competed well. We now can look forward to two more good weeks of training to prepare for our next race."
"I was honored to race with my teammates again. The way we ran today was amazing and it will set the pace for the rest of the season; it feels great to have the opportunity to run once again this season, shared Heidi Schreiber. We are blessed with the ability to honor the Lord with our running."
Up next for the Lady Lions is the Hyder/McMahill Invite in Montreat, NC on September 13.
