McKensey Sets EC Career Block Record With Win Over Lees-McRae

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team played their penultimate home game of the regular season when they hosted the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Saturday. The Lions came out on top, shutting out the Bobcats 3-0, moving their record to 15-12 overall and 11-3 in conference. 

The Lions took command of the first set early on, scoring the first two points of the game and never letting the Bobcats catch them. With 0 lead changes and 0 tied scores, Emmanuel cruised to a 25-10 victory in the first set. 

The second set followed in a similar fashion, the Lions once again dominating with a hitting percentage of .517. The Bobcats failed to respond and Emmanuel took the second set, 25-12. 

The third set began with Lees-McRae rallying to stay alive by taking the lead early on. However, the Lions once again took control of the set, defeating the Bobcats 25-19 to win the game. 

Senior Jessica Gray lead the way for the Lions with 12 kills, while sophomore Hallie Richardson followed with 8. 

Senior Mia McKensey ended the day with 8 blocks, putting her at 396 career blocks, a new school record. This mark surpassed the all time record of 395 at Emmanuel that was previously held by Julie De Blanc. 

Next up, women's volleyball will host Southern Wesleyan University on Friday, November 15, for their final home game of the 2019 regular season.
