Lions Sweep Flying Fleet

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team took on Erskine College on Tuesday night, defeating the Flying Fleet 3-0. This conference victory brings the Lions to 14-11 overall and 10-2 in conference. 

The Lions set the pace early on, getting an early lead and never looking back. They eventually claimed the first set, 25-13.

In the second set, sophomore Taylor Roberts had 5 kills, leading the way in another set dominated by the Lions. Both the first and second set had zero lead changes as the Flying Fleet trailed the entire time. The second set ended up with Emmanuel on top, 25-14. 

After the Lions got an early lead in the third set, the Flying Fleet were finally able to gather themselves.  Erskine took the lead for the first time all game when they went up 12-11. However, Sophomore Amanda Mazurkiewcz responded with back to back kills as the Lions fought back and went on to win the set, 25-21. 

Senior Jessica Gray led the Lions with 9 kills, while Taylor Roberts followed with 7. Senior Aysha Avery finished the game with 5 service aces. 

Next up, women's volleyball takes on King University at home on Friday, November 8.
