Lady Lions Take Down NGU in Four

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga – The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team hosted North Greenville University for their first Conference home game. The Lady Lions defeated the Crusaders, 3-1. This win brings the Lions record to 7-8 overall, 3-1 in conference. 

After giving up the first set 25-22 in a hard fought exchange, the Lady Lions got off to a slow start in the second. Trailing by as many as 6 points early on, the Lady Lions started heating up. Senior Jessica Gray rattled off several kills in a row as Emmanuel came back to win the set, 25-22. 

Emmanuel stayed in control throughout the third set, maintaining a 4 point lead for the majority of the set as they claimed it 25-20.

The fourth set featured many lead changes as the two teams fought to come out on top. The Lady Lions came out victorious when Taylor Roberts had her 7th kill of the game to finish off the set, 25-23.

Emmanuel had three ladies with double digit kills. Senior Mia McKensey had 12 and sophomore Hallie Richardson tied her career high at Emmanuel with 14. Senior Jessica Gray put on a dominating performance, ending the evening with 24 kills, tied for the most of her career.

Next up, women's volleyball will host Belmont Abbey on Friday, October 11.
