SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team came back from a 0-2 deficit to defeat Converse College on Saturday afternoon, 3-2. This win brings the Lions record to 5-7 overall, 1-1 in conference.
The teams battled it out in a lengthy first set. After trailing by six points, Sophomore Hallie Richardson would put down her 3rd kill of the night while Junior Jenna Woodruff followed with a kill of her own. A Lions service error would follow before a string of 7 points put the Lions up 21-20. The set would extend past the 25 point mark and the lead would shift back in favor of the Valkyries. A final Lion effort from Senior Jessica Gray tied the score up at 27-27, before back to back Emmanuel errors gave Converse the first set, 27-29.
The Lions trailed the majority of the second set as the Valkyries got off to a hot start. Emmanuel began to find their way back into the set after a couple 4 point runs. Another kill from Jessica Gray would tie up the score at 19-19, then the Lions would force a lead change. Hallie Richardson continued to add to her career high kills to put the Lions in position to close out the set 24-21.
