CLEVELAND, Tn. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team wrapped up the Lee Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win against Concord University. With this win the Lady Lions bring their overall record to 4-5.
The ladies dished out 20 kills en route to their 25-23 first set victory. The Lions had their strongest hitting percentage of the tournament at .348.
The Lions continued their run in the second set while the Mountain Lions struggled with 8 errors. Despite trailing 20-19, Emmanuel scored three straight points to steal the set, 25-22.
Tied at 10-10 in the third set, Concord went on a four point run to pull them ahead. The Lions had their worst performance of the afternoon with 11 attacking errors, allowing the Mountain Lions to take set three 25-23.
The Lions were forced to put it all on the line in the fourth set after trailing 25-24. Not wanting to take it to a decisive 5th set, the Lions recorded three straight points to win the game, 27-25.
Sophomore Mia Cotton led the Lions with 15 kills and a .317 hitting percentage.
Net up, the Lions will return to Franklin Springs for their first home match of the season. The ladies take on Lander University on Tuesday, September 24th at 7:00pm.
