Preseason Interview Women's Volleyball

Franklin Springs, GA - A new season has begun for the Lady Lions volleyball team. We briefly got to talk to Head Coach Inga Kurgonaite about her new Assistant Coach (Kaylee Kehoe), the upcoming season, and the impact of her seniors and freshmen on the team.

Last season was up and down for the Lady Lions but Coach Kurgonaite says, "We can expect a lot more fight from Emmanuel volleyball team this year". She also had this to say about the team, "I have a group of very talented players who work hard everyday to achieve our goals as a team." Coach Kurgonaite is really looking forward to this season even though her team is young with 8 freshmen. She says the team is looking the best they ever have with depth in each position, which makes it very competitive at practice.

When asked about the freshmen on the team this season she had this to say, "The freshmen definitely came in ready to fight for that starting spot on the court. Some of them already did that so you will definitely be seeing them in action this year. Players to look out for are Mia McKensey, Sarah Neill, Bethany Winston, Jessica Gray and Stephanie Hardy. We also had a few freshmen surprise us and they continue to impress us on a daily basis".

The Lady Lions will be going against harder opponents this year since we are transitioning to NCAA Division II membership. "The only way to get better is to play against tough opponents who will challenge you", states Coach Kurgonaite.

Good luck Lady Lions and Coach Kurgonaite on their new season. The Lady Lions will be headed to Georgia College on Wednesday, September 7th for there next match at 7:00 p.m.
