CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The women's track and field team traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina to compete at the 49er Classic this past week. It was junior Cassandra Teasley who continued to lead the women's team. It started off with Teasley breaking her personal and school record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.92 to win her heat and to qualify for conference. She then anchored the 4x100 meter relay and clocked a 49.26 with teammates Deja, Thalia, and Clara. She concluded the day with a season best of 25.17 in the 200 meter dash.
Junior Alisha Wright continued to dominate the short hurdles after clocking a new personal and school record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time 14.95. Erin Putnam secured another PR in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:06.12. Sophomore Briana Jordan threw a PR in javelin with a mark of 61'10. Freshman Mia Mckensey made an outdoor debut in high jump to secure 8th place and to qualify for conference with a mark of 5'0.25. Sophomore Alexa Quarles made a career debut in the 1500 meter run and set a huge PR and conference qualifying time of 5:08.46.
Clara Heiss increased the program's outdoor pole vaulting mark to a 9'6.25.
Next up, the women will continue their reign of success at the Emory Invitation in Atlanta, Georgia.
