The Emmanuel College Lions competed this weekend at the very competitive Hilton Garden Invitational hosted at JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, NC. This meet was comprised of some top NCAA Division I, II, and III teams in the southeast as well as professional athletes and Olympians from all over the country. The Lions had some strong performances as well as earned some new personal best times!
Senior Sam Cortese and Junior Tanisha Summerour had solid performances in the shotput. Samantha threw a distance of 11.58 meters and was closely followed by Tanisha who improved her national qualifying mark to 11.39 meters. Both ladies finished the meet better than they were seeded, proving they can compete with any of the competition they face!

She covered the 60 meters in 8.36 seconds, putting her within 0.14 seconds of qualifying for nationals. Senior Jazmin Konnick narrowly missed the NCCAA mark of 2:27.00 for the 800 meter dash, running 2:27.66.
