FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.---The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's track and field team will begin their outdoor season in about three weeks after the NAIA Indoor Nationals on March 6th.
Last year was the first time that the SSAC held a conference meet for outdoor track and field.
After winning the very first SSAC Conference Championship ever last year, the Lions will be fighting for their second SSAC Conference Championship this year. For the Lions to come home with another championship, they are going to have to fight harder this year as we have new schools in our conference that have exceptional track teams. While the Lions will be competing for their Championship so will the Lady lions. Last year the Lady Lions came out with a third place finish at conference but this year the Lady Lions are stronger than ever and have been training tremendously hard to win their first Conference Championship.
"Last year was very tough being our second year having a track team and a first Conference Championship with a smaller team in comparison to the other teams," shares team member Kiara Hernandez. "We put up a great fight and battle last year but fell short. Coming into this year's outdoor season we have more confidence in ourselves and we know that we can and will do great things this season."
The first Lion's and Lady Lion's outdoor track and field meet will be held at the Emory Invitational on March 21, 2014.
