ATLANTA, Ga.---The Emmanuel College Women's Track and Field competed at their first outdoor track meet of the season at the Emory Invitational on March 21 and 22.
The Lady Lions had an outstanding first outdoor track and field meet having two Lady Lions qualify for the NCCAA National track and field meet. Junior Samantha Cortese qualified in the shot-put throwing (12.08 meters); Sam also qualified in the Javelin throwing (29.05 meters). The other National Qualifier is Sophomore Lindsey Toole qualifying in the 10,000 meters running a time of (42:37.53). With this being only the first outdoor meet of the season there is plenty of time for national qualifiers.
"This being our first outdoor meet and coming right off of spring break I'm very pleased," shares CoachBen Hall. "We had several NCCAA national qualifying marks; I think we will have several more as the season progresses. We are progressing well athletically, but even more important than that, I believe, we are progressing and growing together as a team."
The next Women's Outdoor Track and Field meet will be held again at Emory University for the Emory Classic on March 28.
