Sumter, SC. - On the second day of matches, freshman Selina Donecker won two out of the three matches she had, losing in the semi final against the number 5 seed in her draw. Senior, Maria Raich, unfortunately had to retire her semi-final match due to an injury she picked up in her match. Raich and her partner, Zyanya Rogel, had a tough semi-final match and were unable to break their opponent to equalize the match, and lost 4-6. Rogel was more successful in her singles, winning her first match using her big serve.
Sophomore, Kristina Khmelevskaia won her quarter final match, dominating the point with her forehand. In her semi-final match, she had to face her teammate, Rogel. The two battled it out for the spot in the final and Khmelevskaia was able to win the match in the third set match tie break 10-7. Senior, Victoria Silva won her second-round match, but was unable to defeat her next opponent in the quarter final. Marta Rozados won her back-draw singles match, while Lauren Castillon and Julia Ramos were unable to win their back-draw match.
The women's team will continue action today at the Palmetto Tennis Championships, with Khmelevskaia in the final of the Singles C draw.
