Women's Tennis Drop First Conference Match of the Season

Franklin Springs, Ga. — The EC Women's team was hosting another conference match against the University of Mount Olive. After a lot of tight matches, the Lad Lions lost 4-3.

The Lady Lions were now on a winning streak and were 7-0 in the Conference. Unfortunately for the Women's Team, they had to face a solid team and dropped heir first match of the conference this season against the University of Mount Olive. 

#3 doubles composed by Katharina Kiderlen and Marta Rozados had some issues to impose their game style as their offensive game at the net was not enough. The duo dropped their doubles on the score of 6-3. 

Doubles #1 composed by Fantine Botella and Chloe O'Connor had a tough beginning as they could not find their rhythm and were down on the score. Botella and O'Connor managed to finally find the proper pace but did not manage to conclude the match and lost 6-4.

Playing doubles #2 was Pearllan Cipriano and Maria Raich who had a tight match from the beginning until the end. Thanks to a lot of consistency at the baseline and aggressive game at the net, the duo managed to break their opponent's serve and won 7-5.

After the doubles, the Lady Lions were now down 1-0. 

Playing #1 singles was the senior Fantine Botella who had a really good start as she did not give chances to her opponent to score in the first set. In the second set, Botella dropped her level but still managed to dominate her opponent thanks to an offensive game and won 6-0 6-4.

#3 singles was played by the freshman Marta Rozados who struggled a lot to find solutions against a really consistent player. Rozados dropped her match 6-2 6-1.

Lauren Castillon playing #5 singles had a tight first set as both players were winning their serve but Castillon did not manage to close the first set and lost 6-4. In the second set, Lauren used her aggressive backhand more often which led her to win the second set 6-2. In the third set, the Trojan avoided Lauren's backhand as much as she could which bothered our Lion who dropped the third set 6-2.

Playing #4 singles was the junior Maria Raich who had a tough beginning as she injured herself in the first game. Raich managed to come back on the court and used her consistency to bother her opponent which led her to a 6-2 6-4 win.

#2 singles was played by Pearllan Cipriano who had difficulties to find solutions against a really smart player which led Cipriano to drop the first set 6-3. The second set was tighter as Pearllan finally found the weaknesses of her opponent which led her to go to the tie-breaker. Unfortunately, Cipriano's consistency was not enough to close the match and lost 10-8 in the tie-breaker of the second set. 

Victoria Silva playing #6 singles was the last match to play, thanks to a lot of offensive shots, Silva quickly found the weaknesses of her opponent and dominated the Trojan 6-3 6-3.  

The Lady Lions finished the day with a 4-3 loss against the University of Mount Olive. 

EC's Women's Tennis Team will be hosting their last home conference match Saturday, April 6th against Belmont Abbey College.
