Franklin Springs, Ga. — On Thursday, March 14th the Emmanuel College Women's Tennis Team hosted their first home match of the season against North Greenville University. After some tight matches, the Lady Lions defeated the Crusaders 6-1.

The Lady Lions stepped on the court with a specific plan and goal in place, to give their best effort without leaving it to chance for their opponent. After a few tight matches the women's team managed to top North Greenville University.

Playing #3 doubles was Katharina Kiderlen and Marta Rozados who did not encounter any difficulties as they managed to dominate their opponent 6-2.

Playing #2 doubles was Maria Raich and Pearllan Cipriano who also had a good match without any trouble. Thanks to a lot of aggressive forehands from Raich and pouching at the net from Cipriano, the duo dominated their opponents 6-3.

#1 double composed by senior Fantine Botella and Chloe O'Connor had more difficulties. After being up the whole match, the Crusaders came back to tie up the score. After being down one break, the duo did not manage to come back and lost 6-4.

After the doubles, the Lady Lions were now up 1-0 and were ready to give everything for their singles.

Playing #5 singles was Freshman Lauren Castillon who had a solid performance. Thanks to a lot of offensive backhands, Castillon defeated the Crusaders 6-1, 6-0.

At #3 single was Freshman Marta Rozados who had a good start. After a 4-3 lead from Rozados, the Crusaders decided to completely change her game style and put Marta in a lot of trouble. After dropping the first set 7-5, Marta kept looking for solutions but unfortunately, her opponent managed to close it 7-5, 6-1.

Single # 1 was played by Botella Fantine who encountered some difficulties as she dropped the first set 6-4. Botella started the second set with a completely different mindset and was more aggressive which led her to win the second set 6-2. After a tight third set, Botella went to the tiebreaker and thanks to smart decisions, Botella managed to close out the match 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (9-7)

#4 single was Junior Maria Raich who made the match look easy for her. After having some difficulties at the beginning of the first set, Raich managed to come back stronger by using her strong forehand. After winning the first set 6-3, Maria was playing a really confident game style and did not leave any chance to her opponent to come back as she closed the second set 6-0.

The match was now clinched as the women's team already won four points but there were still two matches left.

Playing number 6 single was the junior Victoria Silva who was playing a pro set as the match was already clinched. Without any trouble, Silva did not give any chance to her opponent as she closed the match with a quick 8-0.

Pearllan Cipriano playing number 2 was the last match still playing. After being down 5-1 in the first set, Cipriano managed to come and win the first set 7-5. Our senior faced more difficulties in the second set as her opponent was using a more aggressive game style which cost her the second set. The third set was a tiebreaker, after a really tight score the whole time, Pearllan managed to use her defense to block her opponents' shots and closed the match by 10-8 in the third.

The Lady Lions finished the day with a 6-1 win against North Greenville.
