MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Emmanuel College women's soccer team defeated conference opponent Chowan University 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. This win brings the Lions record to 9-7 overall, 6-5 in conference.
The ladies had a strong start when Junior Lindsay Lee bounced a shot off the left post to put the Lions ahead 1-0 in just the third minute of play. Junior Hannah Logue had the assist. Lee would take two more unsuccessful shots for the Lions before the first half ended.
Senior goalkeeper Hannah Welch would add her second save of the night two minutes into the second half. After another twenty minutes of play, Chowan's Karissa Grooms would find the net to tie up the game 1-1.
Leaving nothing to chance, the Lions pounced again in the 79th minute with a goal from Hannah Logue to take back the lead 2-1. Hannah Welch kept the goal secure with three more saves before time expired.
Next up, the Lions take on North Georgia at home on Tuesday, November 5th.
