Belmont Abbey Downs Lions In Second Half Run

BELMONT, N.C. - The Emmanuel College women's soccer team fell to conference opponent Belmont Abbey on Wednesday night. This loss brings the Lion's record to 5-3 overall, 3-2 in conference.
 
What started out as a promising night for the Lions took a drastic turn in the second half. Junior Lindsay Lee connected with an assist from Senior Lochlain Corliss to put the Lions ahead at 21 minutes into the game. Senior Goalkeeper Hannah Welch would stop both shots on goal from the Crusaders to close out the half with a 1-0 lead for Emmanuel.
 
When the second period started, the Crusaders began to take control. Just three minutes into the period BAC's Tatiana Daugherty scored to tie up the game at 1-1. Two minutes later, Morgan Patton would find the goal for the Crusaders to take the lead, 2-1. Less than four minutes would pass before Daugherty would connect with her second goal to increase the Crusader lead to 3-1. Not finished yet, Belmont Abbey would add one last dagger with a goal from Morgan Farrar in the 63rd minute to finish the game, 4-1. 
 
Next up, the Lions will continue conference play on the road against Lees-McRae on Saturday, October 5th.
