FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - Emmanuel College women's soccer has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2019 season.
Before official regular season gets started, the Lions will have a pair of scrimmages against NCAA DII opponents - University of West Georgia on Saturday, August 24th at 1pm in Carrolton, Ga. and Saturday, August 31st against Lander.
"We are excited about our schedule for 2019." Said Head Coach Nathan Harrel. "We have looked to test ourselves within the state and southeastern region for NCAA DII. Though we will be on the road for the early part of the season, I believe that these games will prepare us for the Conference Carolinas schedule and ideally into post-season play in November. A number of the teams we will play did well in their conference tournaments and even into the regional portion of the NCAA DII National tournament. We are looking forward to getting the team together for pre-season and preparing for a great season."
The 2019 season kicks off just up I-85 at Anderson University on September 7th before traveling to Shorter University in Rome Ga. on Wednesday, September 11th. Their road games continue with their first Conference Carolinas competition in Bristol, TN against King University (Sep 11). EC will have one last away match at Young Harris on September 18th.
The Lion's will then head home for back to back Conference Carolinas matches against University of Mount Olive (Sep. 21) and Erskine College (Sep. 25) before wrapping up September competition in Spartanburg, SC against Converse College (Sep. 28). In October the team will continue conference matches at Belmont Abbey (Oct. 4), Lees-McRae (Oct. 5) and Southern Wesleyan University (Oct. 9).
Non-conference games will see the Lion's travel to Americus, Ga, to face Georgia Southwestern (Oct. 16) and host Georgia Gwinnett College (Oct. 23) as well as University of North Georgia (Nov. 5).
Emmanuel will welcome North Greenville University on Oct. 12 and Limestone College on Oct. 19 at the Stephens Athletic Complex for Conference Carolinas matches. Emmanuel's conference road matches will conclude with trips to Barton College (Oct. 26) and Chowan University (Nov. 2).
Emmanuel Women's Soccer finished 5th in Conference Carolinas and made the conference tournament in 2018 and will look to improve through the addition of twelve new players for the 2019 season.
"We have been traveling throughout the southeast to identify these talented players for our program," Coach Harrell continued. We are thrilled to add quality players, but also quality people to our EC women's soccer family. We have players coming to Franklin Springs from Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and international players from Austria and Australia. We have been praying that this group will come together and have a great complete experience at EC, growing academically, athletically, socially, and spiritually."
