Women's Basketball Ranked 3rd In Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Barton and Belmont Abbey tied for the top spot in the 2019-20 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Preseason Poll.

The conference office officially unveiled the preseason poll that was chosen by the league's head coaches on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019.

Belmont Abbey received the most first-place votes in the preseason tally with six to accumulate a total of 122 points. Barton tied with the 122 points with three first-place votes, but also six second-place votes and two third-place votes. Belmont Abbey received one fourth-place vote and one fifth-place vote. 

Defending Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Tournament champion Emmanuel was picked third in the poll with a total of 105 points. Emmanuel received two first-place votes. Limestone and King both tied for fourth in the preseason poll with a total of 99. Limestone garnered one first-place vote. 

Mount Olive finished sixth in the preseason poll with a total of 87 followed by Chowan (69) and North Greenville (60). Lees-McRae (52) was tabbed ninth, while Southern Wesleyan (47), Erskine (39) and Converse (23) closed out the voting. 

The 2020 Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championships will officially start on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 with higher seeded institutions hosting quarterfinal matchups for the right to advance to the semifinals at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday, March 7, 2020. The championship games of the 2020 Conference Carolinas Basketball Championships will be held in Spartanburg on Sunday, March 8, 2020.
