WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The No. 5 Emmanuel Lady Lions Basketball team came out on top against No. 4 Grace College, 65-54, on Wednesday in the first round of the NCCAA National Championship.
The Lady Lions shot 43% from the field against the Lancers and 70% from the line going 12 for 17, including Emily Dreslinski going 5 for 5. Taylor Delasbour led the ladies with 16 points followed by Lochalin Corliss with 12 points. Freshman Dreslinski was not far behind with 10 points, but led the ladies in rebounds with 8 overall.
Taylor Delasbour fired off 5 points to start the game off giving the Lady Lions a lead, 11-6. At the end of the second quarter, the ladies were up 36-21 and there was no catching up for Grace College. Although Grace College gave the ladies a tough round of defense during the third quarter, they pulled through and held onto the lead securing their win 65-54.
Emmanuel added points from the bench with Hope Forrester going 4 for 5 from the field.
The Lady Lions move forward in the tournament with an overall record of 17-11 and will go against No. 1 Mid-America Christian University Thursday, March 15th at 5:15 PM. No. 1 Mid-America defeated No. 8 Yellowstone Christian College by forty points, 85-45.
