Central, SC - The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team have won their 6th straight game after a convincing win against rivals Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday evening. Sophomore Center Avery Scarbrough top scored with a career high 24 points and 6 rebounds, while Timia Reynolds finished with 18 points. Elise Coberly notched up another double-double scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. The first quarter saw plenty of action at the net as both teams collected 23 points, and the lead changed 6 times. Emmanuel then took charge of the match in the second quarter opening up a 12 point lead. The Lions then continued to outscore the Warriors for the remainder of the match, collecting a comfortable 25 point victory. Genesis Jones finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds while Mikayla Trombley had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Kristie Mason also chipped in 7 points from the bench. Top scorer Avery Scarbrough had this to say about the match: "We shared the ball well and got quality stops on defense. From the floor to the bench we were ready to play and everyone bought a lot of energy." The Lions (11-4 in conference play) continue to chase King University (12-3) for second place on the Conference Carolina's ladder. The Lions return home to the Jack and Jane Shaw athletic center on Tuesday evening with they take on Converse College at 5:30pm.
