EC Lions Win Back To Back

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Emmanuel College Women's Basketball Team have claimed another Conference Carolina's win this weekend against Pfeiffer University, on the back of their impressive victory over Belmonte Abbey College on Friday night. Timia Reynolds and Mikayla Trombley were once again the top scorers for the Lions with 18 and 16 points respectively. Elise Coberly had another solid performance notching up yet another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. The win moves the Lions to 9-4 in Conference Carolina's play, keeping them in third place behind Limestone (13-0) and King (11-2).  While the Lions trailed the Falcons in field goal percentage, they put on an impressive display with their free throw and 3pt accuracy. Once again the Lions were locked in a tense battle in the opening half. The Lions had beaten the Flacons by 15 points earlier in the season and it was clear the Falcons wanted redemption. The third period proved to be of vital importance for the Lions as they lurched to a 12 point advantage, Coberly's 8 point, 4 rebound haul spearheading the way. There were some tense moments in the dying minutes of the game as Emmanuel's accuracy at the line saved the day. Timia Reynolds made 5/6 throws in the last 3 minutes, when the Falcons had clawed back to as close as 6 points. With just 19 seconds on the clock, the Lions leading 62-65, Addie McNeely sunk 2 throws, and after a timely defensive rebound from freshman Ashlyn Loudermilk, McNeely converted twice more from the Lions to see out the 7 point victory. McNeely finished with 9 points, while Mya Moss also contributed 7. The Lions will next face Erskine College on Wednesday February 3rd in South Carolina, a team they havn't yet matched up against this season. The Lions are now 14-6 overall.
