Franklin Springs, GA - The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team have won their third straight game, after a comprehensive victory over Belmont Abbey College. The Lions outscored the Crusaders in all four quarters of the game, and notched up more rebounds and assists than their opponents. Mikayla Trombley top scored for the Lions with an impressive 20 points and 4 rebounds, closely followed by Timia Reynolds who managed 19 points and 3 rebounds. Elise Coberly once again had the most rebounds for the evening with 14, also collecting 7 points, while Avery Scarbrough and Addie McNeely both finished with 11 points. The win kept Emmanuel locked in third place in the conference standings, behind Limestone College and King University. The Lions had a slow start to the game, trailing the Crusaders for the first 6 minutes of play. A very even first half of play saw 9 lead changes in total, both teams unable to establish a substantial lead. Emmanuel's third quarter performance where they outscored the Crusaders by 11 points is what ultimately set up the win, which was solidified with another 5 point deficit in the final term. Elise Coberly is sitting at 4th in conference for average rebounds per game, with 9.1, while Addie McNeely has the second best 3-pt percentage in Conference Carolina's with 44.1%. The Lions will be back in action Saturday (January 30th) afternoon when they take on Pfeiffer University at 4pm at the Jack and Jane Shaw Athletic Center. The Lions will be looking to improve their conference record to 9-4, they are currently at 12-6 for the season overall.
