Franklin Springs, Ga - This week's featured athletes are Elise Coberly (women's basketball) and Elijah Robinson (men's basketball). Both of these players had outstanding performances on the court and had huge impacts on the outcome of the game.
Elise Coberly is a junior from Comer, GA and she is one of the strongest forwards in the conference. Every game Coberly's presence is felt on the court, which is why this isn't her first time featured as an athlete of the week. Last week Elise had an impressive performance, she was unstoppable in the conference clash against Pfeiffer University and Belmont Abbey, helping the Lady Lions secure two victories. Coberly was able to score 11 points while getting 17 rebounds against Pfeiffer University, and later in the week against Belmont Abbey she had 11 points and 9 rebounds. Elise had a very strong performance and she will be a huge asset if she can keep it up in the upcoming games against Mount Olive and Lees-McRae.
Elijah Robinson is a junior from Chicago, IL. This is his first year competing with the Emmanuel Lions, as he transferred from Chattahoochee Tech. However, Elijah has already established himself as one of the leaders of the team. Week to week Elijah shows his skill level on the court, providing the Lions with multiple rebounds, assists and points. Last week wasn't an exception for Robinson as he scored 15 points, made 4 assists and collected 11 rebounds against Mount Olive, 15 points, 4 assists and 8 rebounds, against Pfieffer, as well as 16 points, 1 assist and 5 rebounds against Belmont Abbey. Very Impressive performances by Elijah should give him a boost of confidence in the upcoming games versus Mount Olive and Lees-McRae which might just be what Lions need to come out on top in these tough conference games.
Congratulations to Elise and Elijah on their great performances, and good luck in the remainder of the season. Go LIONS!
