Women’s Hoops Collect Fourth Conference Win

Misenheimer, NC - The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team are now 8-4 on the season after a convincing 53-38 victory over Pfeiffer University.

Elise Coberly and Avery Scarbrough both top scored for the Lions with 11 points, while Timia Reynolds notched up 9 point with 3 steals and 2 assists. Addie McNeely also chipped in 6 points from the bench. Both teams really struggled to gain momentum early, the score only 2-6 in favor of Pfeiffer after 10 minutes, with only Scarbrough able to convert for the Lions. The Lions bounced back to outscore the Falcon's 17-8 in the second period to gain a 19-14 advantage at half time. Both teams recorded poor shooting percentages, but it was the Lion's free throw percentage (75) and rebounds (48 to Pfeiffer's 22) that really made the difference.

Elise Coberly single handedly claimed 17 rebounds for herself, and was once again a standout performer for the Lion's while Timia Reynolds and Ashley Gayle each got 4 rebounds. The Lions were glad to continue their second period momentum into the remained of the game, to close out the match by 15 points. The Pfeiffer match was the beginning of a string of 4 tough away games for the Lions (4-2 in Conference Carolina's), as they will face off with Belmont Abbey (4-2), Mt. Olive (3-3) and Lees-McRae (2-4) all in the next 8 days.

Limestone University and King College are both currently 6-0 in Conference, and will likely remain unbeaten until they square off on February 13.

The Lions next game against Belmont Abbey is Saturday the 9th at 4pm.
