Lady Lions Fall in a close game to the Blue Bears

Lakeland, FL - The Emmanuel Lady Lions came into Friday afternoon, with a 6-3 record. The lady Lions were looking to bounce back against Livingstone at the Florida Southern Classic.

The lady Lions scored the first seven points of the contest and rode a fast start to a 17-11 lead within the first period.The momentum was set high with post plays from Mikayla Trombley who put up 16 points. Amongst  MikaylaTrombley were four other double digit shooters: Elise Coberly with 15, Timia Reynolds with 10,  Keeley Chester with 11, and Avery Scarbrough adding 10. The lady Lions closed halftime with a 43-34 lead.

After halftime the Blue bears picked up their offense intensity. As they utilized  Amber Curtis and Toxiana Wilson for a combination of 15 rebounds. Each time the Lions fought back to tie the game, the Blue bears would gain an upperhand. Namely behind the dominant presence of  Amber Curtis who scored 28 points throughout the game.

With under two minutes remaining, Elise Coberly got fouled and chipped away at the blue bears as she made the free throw shots. But in the end Patterson from the Blue bears secured the win by scoring five points.

The Lady Lions closed out this semester with a 6-4 record, optimistic about the future they will continue their journey next semester on January 2nd 2016 against Mount Olive at the Jack and Jane Shaw Athletic Center. Tip off is set a 2:00 p.m.
