Franklin Springs, GA - This week's winners are Kelvin Kirui & Elise Coberly! Both of these athletes showed great performances and desire in their competition which placed them amongst the best in their conference!
Elise Coberly is a junior from Comer, Ga. She has always been a big part of the basketball program, making her presence on the court a valuable asset to the team. This season, Elise started off stronger than ever. In the first official game of the season against Georgia College (73-55) Elise was able to get 16 points and 13 rebounds, proving to be a lot of trouble to the opponents offense and defense. Nevertheless, Elise continued to impress in the second game of the weekend against Augusta University (84-67) earning 19 points with 10 rebounds. Her contribution definitely plays a big part in the success of the Lady Lions. Congratulations Elise, keep it up!
Kelvin Kirui is a sophomore from Eldoret, Kenya.This is his second appearance as an athlete of the week this season, and he keeps bringing excitement to EC athletics. This week the Cross Country team competed at the 8K NCCAA National Championship and Kelvin was able to claim the victory, beating over one hundred opponents from all over the country. Kelvin showed some great leadership skills, showing a lot of promise for the upcoming season. Kirui came in to Emmanuel to make the program stronger and so far he has proven himself on every level. Let's hope that Kelvin will continue to impress us with his running! Good Luck!
