Lady Lions Split with North Greenville Univ.

Franklin Springs, GA - The Emmanuel Lady Lions took on the North Greenville Crusaders in a double header event. In game one of the matchup the Lady Lions came out strong in the bottom of the 1st when Kara Hembree singled to centerfield, Cheyenne Galloway was hit by a pitch, and then Kalen Callaway singled to center field to load the bases. Madison Franklin then flew out to centerfield to bring in Hembree.

The NGU Crusaders didn't respond until the top of the 4th when J. Farmer homered to tie the score 1-1. A couple singles, a hit by pitch (HBP), and sacrifice fly bring in two more runs for the Crusaders leaving the score 3-1 until the 7th inning.

Bottom of the 7th the Lady Lions rallied once again as Crystal Busbee walked and Junior Halle Cheek doubled to left center. Kara Hembree then singled to third to load the bases. From there Cheyenne Galloway was hit by a pitch to bring in Busbee. Kalen Callaway then reached on a fielder's choice but the Lady Lions fell short in their final moments and the North Greenville Crusaders won 3-2.

 Key Players include Halle Cheek with a double and Cheyenne Galloway and Madison Franklin both with RBI's. Kara Hembree also went 3 for 4 at the plate.

In Game two of the matchup the Crusaders finally put a run on the board when M. Herlong homered but were soon quieted down once again by pitcher Erin Harden who would have 13 strikeouts this game and 4 in the first game; sitting a total of 17 crusaders back on the bench in the 12 innings Harden threw.

Bottom of the 6th Emmanuel finally put their first run on the board when Kalen Callaway started a rally with a double to left field. From there Kirsten Hill walked and Jessica Allen singled to centerfield to score Callaway. Tied up 1-1 the Lady Lions take the Crusaders into not just one but two extra innings. Top of the 9th in tie breaker play (ITB) the Crusaders put J. Farmer on second and finally scored from a sacrifice hit and a wild pitch but your Lady Lions couldn't leave it at that. Jessica Allen bunted Jorden Williams, the ITB runner at second, to third and Crystal Busbee singled to center field to bring in Williams to tie the score once again. Halle Cheek then reached on an error and Kara Hembree then singled to third base. Freshman Cheyenne Galloway came in clutch and flied out to right field to bring in Busbee to win the game.

Key Players were Kirsten Hill and Kalen Callaway who both had doubles, Cheyenne Galloway, Jessica Allen, and Crystal Busbee with RBI's and Pitcher Erin Harden with 13 strikeouts in game 2 (17 total for the day).
