Lions Softball Sweep Truett McConnell

Emmanuel College Sports Information Department

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - After a tough beginning to the Lady Lions softball season; the Lions come back with only success against Truett McConnell, winning both games last night.

Starting on the mound for the Lions first game and holding the Truett bears to only 1 run, was a freshman, Erin Harden. Erin was unstoppable on the mound. She had 10 strikeouts and only allowed the bears to have 1 hit against her. Another athlete who came in clutch in the first game was a sophomore, Brittany Abbott. In the bottom of the 5th inning with one out and bases loaded, Abbott drills a base hit to the outfield scoring the first and only two runs in the game for the Lady Lions. Emmanuel had a tremendous first game winning 2 - 1.

The second game was a pitchers dual only having 9 hits total from both teams. Martie Rogers was the pitcher for the Lions, holding the Bears only to 4 hits but most importantly, no runs. The Lion's offense was started when Bethany Campbell hit the first homerun of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Bethany Campbell scored 2 of the 3 runs in this game.

As the Lady Lions could have lost faith from a rough start to the season, they did not by keeping their eyes on God, and what He says in His word; "For nothing will be impossible with God." Luke 1:37 (ESV)

The Lions next game will be this coming Saturday, March 7th a little father down south against Coastal GA for a 1:00 and3:00pm game! Wish these Lions good luck and come out and support if you can! To God be the Glory, Go Lions!
