CENTRAL, S.C.---The Emmanuel College softball team swept an SSAC conference doubleheader over Southern Wesleyan Monday afternoon in Central.

Game one went 7-6 and game two went 5-4 both to the Lions.

In game one it was Leah Ritchhart going all seven innings on the mound for the win. EC scored two runs in both the 5th and 7th innings after posting three runs in the 4th inning for the seven total runs. Kalen Calloway went 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBIs to lead the Lions.

Game two saw SWU jump out to an early 3-1 lead after just one inning of play. EC added runs in the 3rd and 6th inning as well as two runs in the 5th inning to cut into the SWU lead and eventually claim the victory. Cassie Hall was 1 for 4 (home run) at the plate with 2 RBIs.

The wins today not only earn the Lions results in the SSAC conference standings but also earn the Lions two points in the annual Lil' Bronze Peach series between EC and SWU. EC has won the series the past two years and again this school year the series is coming down to the final contests of the year to determine the winner.

The Lions are now 8-30 (4-18 in the SSAC) and will host the SWU Warriors in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 22. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
