OAKWOOD, Ga- The Emmanuel College men's cross country team competed at the 7th Annual University of North Georgia Cross Country Invitational this Saturday.
The men had a strong performance, finishing second overall with a team average of 28:02 and a score of 58 points. Competition included 11 other schools with West Alabama narrowly outscoring the Lions by just 1 point.
Freshman Shane Shelafoe led the Lions for the second time this week as he lowered his time to 26:53.80 to snatch a third place finish in the 101 runner field. Mugisha Bienvenu finished seventh with a time of 27:51.20, Alexander Andrade-Sosa placed ninth at 27:57.30, Dawson Miller clocked a 28:32.90, and Trent Shackelford rounded out the top five Emmanuel runners with a time of 28:59.50.
The lions will pick their season back up in October to compete at the Great American Cross Country Festival.
