Cross Country Kicks Off Season At 2018 Zaxby's Open

GREENEVILLE, Tn. - The Emmanuel College men and women's cross country team kicked off their season with a race at the 2018 Zaxby's Open. Both teams competed against nine other colleges and universities in this Tusculum University hosted 5k.

The men's team averaged a time of 17:54.74 with a total time of 1:29:33.70. This time put the men in 4th place overall, trailing behind Tusculum, Milligan, and North Greenville. Leading the Lions on the men's side was Sophomore Ethan Hargrove who finished 14th with a time of 17:17.6. Sophomore Jake Morgan trailed five spots behind with a time of 17:33.1. Sophomore William Boomer came in 3rd for the Lions while Junior DaMonte Ward and Freshman John Klima rounded out the top five.

In the women's event, the Lions finished in 10th with a total time of 2:11:32.50, averaging 26:18.50. Sophomore Alexa Quarles finished first for the Lions in the #26 spot with a time of 22:41.3. 

Both teams put up a valiant effort and are looking to shave some time off their finish heading into their next meet at the Warrior Cross Country Invitational on September 14th.
