Men's Volleyball Ends Weekend 1-1.

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - The Emmanuel College Men's Volleyball team went 1-1 over the weekend against two conference opponents. On Friday the Lions swept Lees-McRae in 3 sets, while losing to King the following day in three.

Against Lees-McRae the Lions put up 33 kills while holding the Bobcats down to 24 in their three set sweep. Aleksa Lakic led the way to the victory with 9 kills while Ackeem west put up 5 block assists along with his 8 kills.

While the Lions only had a .155 hitting percentage, the Bobcats hit even less at .138, allowing Emmanuel the advantage.

Manuel Melenciano had 6 service aces for the night while Alejandro Zayas tallied 4, including the final two points of the night to finish off Lees-McRae.

Final scores were 25-19, 25-23, 25-19.

On Saturday afternoon the men took on Conference Carolinas #2 ranked King University. In their previous meet up, the Lions fell 3-0.

The first set started well for the Lions who took a quick three point lead behind a kill and ace by Ackeem West. Emmanuel continued to exchange big swings until about midway through the 1st set.

After a 5 point run from the Tornado, Emmanuel never regained their composure. The Lions lost all of their momentum and failed to put up a fight against the powerful King offense. The Tornado easily took the remaining sets, 25-21, 25-14, 25-11.

This weekend wraps up home games for Emmanuel this season. Next up is Erskine College on Tuesday, April 3rd as the Lions travel to Due West, S.C.
