WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Emmanuel College Track & Field Team traveled to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to compete at the JDL Dual Meet Madness this past weekend.
On the women's side, freshman Thalia Sutherland lowers her indoor PR to a 28.10 in the 200, freshman Kristen Stephens lowers her indoor PR to a 1:02.88 in the 400, freshman Dominga Ortega lowers her 800 to a 2:53.54, senior Erin Putnam runs a PR of 3:19.98 in the 800, and senior Deja Barthell makes her debut in triple jump with a 32'11.75.
On the men's side there were several athletes who set personal records, top 8 finishes, and two athletes who won their events. Freshman Josiah Campbell lowers his indoor PR to a 2:04.96 in the 800, freshman Josiah Coile makes his debut in the 800 and mile with a 2:20.89 and 5:36.39, Bienvenu takes 5th in the 3k to finish 9:10.06, and freshman Ackeem West took a huge PR in long jump with a 21'10 to take 3rd overall. Sophomore Bangura won the 400 with a 49.88, Hargrove qualifies for conference with a 9:12.95 PR in the 3k to take 6th, and Collier makes his debut in triple jump with a PR of 42'1.50 to take 3rd overall. Soto secured a win pole vaulting, while Ward took 5th in the 800.
The lions will have a week off from competing but will pick up their last regular season meet prior to conference in Birmingham, Alabama to compete at the Samford Open on February 9th.
