Men's Tennis Face Tough Loss to King University

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. — On March 22nd, the Emmanuel College Men's Tennis Team hosted another conference match against King University. After a lot of tight matches, the Lions lost 4-3.

The Lions were ready to confront the King Tornado today as they were coming off of a conference win against North Greenville University. Unfortunately for the Lions, they couldn't rack up enough points and were defeated 4-3.

Double number 3 composed of both freshman Gustaf Ivarsson and Juan Camilo Burgos struggled to impose their game style as they faced solid opponents. Their offensive game was not enough as they lost 6-1.

Double number 1 composed of Kornel Kimagzewski and Juan Carlos Romero also had to face strong opponents and were unable to score. Romero and Kimagzewski lost with a score of 6-0.

Number 2 double composed of Lucas Sasaki and Jorge Canadas had a different scenario as they had a really tight match until the end. Unfortunately, their aggressive game style was not enough as they fell in the tiebreaker, 7-3.

The Lions were now down by 1-0 after the doubles but did not give up and still gave everything they had left for the singles.

Playing number 3 singles was freshman Kornel Kimagzewski who struggled to defeat his opponent as he couldn't find his weakness. Kimagzewski's offensive game style was not enough today as he lost 6-3, 6-4.

Number 5 singles was played by freshman Juan Camilo Burgos who had a tough first set as he could not find solutions. The second set was different as he came back to tie the score thanks to a lot of consistency. Unfortunately, he did not succeed to conclude the second set and lost 6-2, 7-5.

Juan Carlos Romero, number 1 singles, had a tough start as he struggled to find his opponents weaknesses, dropping the first set 6-4. Romero started the second set with a different mindset and with solutions as he was finally able to play his game style. Using an offensive game, Juan Carlos won the two following sets 6-2, 6-3.

Playing number 2 singles was Thembokwakhe Makhanya who was coming back from a leg injury. Unfortunately, Makhanya's consistency was not enough to defeat his opponent as he lost 6-4, 6-3.

Playing number 4 singles was Lucas Sasaki who had a really good beginning as he started with a 3-0 lead and managed to conclude the first set 6-3. The second set was different as his opponent changed his game style and Sasaki struggled to adapt his game to it. But as he was one break ahead in the whole set, Lucas managed to conclude the match 6-3, 7-5.

Jorge Canadas playing number 6 singles had a really good beginning as he took the lead from the start and did not give chances to his opponent to impose his game. After winning the first set 6-2, Canadas lost a little bit of focus and gave two games to his opponent. But this little down moment did not bother Canadas as he finished the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win.

The Lions finished the day with a 4-3 loss against King University.

EC Tennis Team will host their next conference match on Saturday, March 23rd against Lees McRae University.
