Franklin Spring, GA - For the second week in a row, Santiago Aguilar was voted male Swimmer of the Week for the Appalachian Swimming Conference for the week ending November 21, 2015.
Santiago Aguilar (Emmanuel College JR) set 4 school records (1 NCAA Div. II national cut) at the Brenau University Invite Nov. 21-22. In the 500 Free, Aguilar finished with a school record time of 4:38.78 to a third place finish. In the 100 Fly, he again placed third with a 50.65 (school record) followed by a 53.02 and 1:54.74 in the 100 and 200 Backstrokes; both for 8th place. Winning the 200 Fly may have been Aguilar's individual highlight of his meet, reaching the NCAA D2 National Cut with a time of 1:51.08. In his Relays he split a 1:43.68 helping his team set the school record in the 800 Free Relay (6:57.08), as well as a fly split of 23.01 in the 200 Medley Relay that also set a school record of 1:33.23.
"This marks the 4th EC swimmer to earn ASC Swimmer of the Week this season. Santi had a great meet a Brenau University. Last year in the 500 he was 4:53, this year 4:38. Last year's 200 fly was 1:56, this year 1:51. Last year's 100 fly 53.01, this year 50.65. Our team is progressing, and it is special thing to be a part of!"
