EC Swimmer headed to Triathlon World Championships

Franklin Springs, Ga. -- On August 29, 2014 – Wyatt Nicholson will represent Team USA at the 2014 International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Championships in Edmonton, Canada.

The ITU World Triathlon Series features world-class events all around the world, in which elite triathletes compete annually to become the ITU World Champion. Each year, the Series finishes with a Grand Final as the most important race of the season. The athletes will be competing for World Championship titles in Elite, U23,Juniors, Paratriathletes and Age Groupers. This year 5,000+ athletes will participate in the events.

Nicholson will participate in the Sprint Triathlon Event,consisting of a 750 meter swim (.466 miles), 20 kilometers bike (12.4 miles), and 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) run.

Coach Gilchrest had this to say about his swimmer; "Last summer (2013) Wyatt trained very hard to compete at the USA Age Group National Championships. It was there,at Nationals, that he earned a spot to compete at the World Championships. This past swim season (2013/2014) Wyatt improved his swimming. This summer (2014) Wyatt improved his biking and running by consistently training and working hard. The World Championships are a time to celebrate that hard work, as he represents Emmanuel College, team USA, and gives God the glory!"
