OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok.---The Lions participated in finals competition of Day one of the NAIA National Swimming and Diving Championships tonight in two relays. The women's 200 yard medley relay of Tobo, Tamblyn, Gonzalez, and Lamont finished 16th place in a time of 1:56.45. These ladies scored the first national points in women's school history.

For the men, Hernandez, Rowe, Aguilar, and Wasden finished 11th in the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 1:36.11. This relay was a new EC school record.

After the final heat of tonight's 800 free relay, EC's relay from this morning's session (Buttler, Howard, Nicholson, Rabern) slid into the 16th spot, becoming the first men to score points at a national championship.

"It's always a blessing to be a part of the national championship experience" says Head Coach Allen Gilchrest, as he leads his team through their first national level competition. "Our relays swam school records just to get into the finals this evening" added Coach Gilchrest.
