Men's Soccer Falls to Barton 2-1.

WILSON, N.C. - The Emmanuel College men's soccer team was defeated 2-1 by conference opponent Barton College on Saturday afternoon. This loss brings the Lions record to 8-5-1 overall, 4-3-1 in conference.

Barton had the opening goal in the 10th minute when Nico Rocksien finished off a deflected shot into the bottom left corner of the goal. The rest of the half would remain scoreless.

In the second half, Barton would extend their lead with another goal, this time from Ruben Mancio. Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Lions acted quickly. Just 1 minute later, Freshman Sebastian La Cava-Abudoj found success off of a corner kick from Freshman Kevin Fitzgerald to lessen the Barton lead to 1. The Lions would try to force the game to overtime with two more shots, but fell short 2-1.

The Lions totaled 16 shots compared to Bartons 20.

Freshman goalkeeper Giuliano Palma tallied 5 saves.

Next up, the Lions will play their last regular season match against conference opponent Chowan on Saturday, November 2nd.
