Men's Soccer Tops Tusculum

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - The Emmanuel College men's soccer team topped the Tusculum College Pioneers 2-1 in their home opener on Saturday night. 

Tusculum's Nikola Vujicic scored the first goal of the evening in the 26th minute, jumping ahead of the Lions who failed to score in the first half. Finally, in the 53rd minute, junior Shane Cronin put the Lions on the board with a 25+ yard shot that ricocheted off the right post for his first goal of the 2019 season. 

As the teams battled it out with under ten minutes to play, senior Jeremy Gwaltney headed in the second goal for the Lions with an assist from Sam Murphy. The Pioneers were unable to answer in the final minutes as the Lions closed out the game.

Goalkeeper Giuliano Palma had another strong showing for the Lions, with 6 saves against 7 shots on goal. 

Next up, the men's soccer team will host North Georgia at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 11th.
