Men's Lacrosse Drops Conference Match to Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, Nc. – It was a foggy afternoon as the Emmanuel College Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Banner Elk, NC to play the Lees-McRae Bobcats for another conference match-up.

The first goal of the game was made by the bobcat's Tanner Jones, with no assist with 10:00 left in the first quarter. The bobcats then went on to score five unanswered goals to make the score 6-0 with 00:39 left in the first quarter. Alex Stull put the lions on the board scoring their first goal of the game assisted by Justin Parker with 00:02 left ending the first quarter 6-1.

The lions came in the second quarter hot with two unanswered goals. Tyler Machado fed the ball to Alex Stull to make it 6-2. Michael Balsamides then scored with an assist from Will Schlorf making it 6-3 with 9:19 left in the quarter. Lees McRae's Alec Molander scored two back to back to then be answered by Emmanuel's Alex Stull scoring his third goal of the game. The bobcats went on to score 4 unanswered goals making the scored 12-4 in the bobcat's favor going into half time.

Five goals were made in the third quarter by the bobcats with nothing in return from Emmanuel until 01:37 left in the quarter. Alex Stull's unassisted goal brought the score to 17-5 in Lees-McRae's favor to end the third quarter.

To start the last quarter of the game, Lees-McRae scored two goals to be answered by Emmanuel's Alex Stull and Justin Parker scoring one a piece.

Lees-McRae's Chris Lamay was assisted by Alec Molander to end the game with a final score of 20-7, Lees-McRae.

The lions ended the game with 31 turnovers, 36 shot attempts, and 38 ground balls. Gavin White went 12-30 in faceoffs, and Ethan Brundage had 8 saves.

Tyler Machado, Michael Balsamides, William Schlorf, Alex Stull, and Justin Parker all put points up on the board to give them a total of twelve points for the game.

The Lions will take on Chowan University at home for senior night and the last home game of the season on April 14 at 2 p.m.
