Panama City Beach, FL - The Emmanuel College men's and women's golf team traveled to sunny Panama City Beach, Florida over the weekend. Instead of soaking up sun on the beach, however, the lions were competing for the NCCAA National Championship. The event took place on the par 72 Hombre Golf Club.

The men's team started out strong with EC's own Garrett Bailey holding the number 1 spot going into the final round, leading by two strokes at just one over par (145). When competition was over, Emmanuel ended up finishing in 5th place out of 12 with a score of 946 behind Colorado Christian (913), Dallas Baptist (916), Central Baptist College (930) and Oklahoma Baptist (937). Garrett Bailey tied for 7th (229+13), Andrew Smith tied for 15th (234+18), Florian Lino tied for 20th (237+21), Jason Murphy tied for 36th (249+33), and Jacob Tew finished 45th (265+49). An impressive finish in the top 10 resulted in the NCCAA honoring Garrett Bailey as an All American. In the past 5 years since the existence of the Emmanuel mens golf team, the men have qualified for the NCCAA National Championship 3 times.
The women's team also finished 5th among 9 teams with a combined score of (1,061) behind Dallas Baptist (943), Campbellsville University (1,011), Oklahoma Baptist (1,036) and Colorado Christian (1,060). The Lady Lions were led by Ryann McCuiston tied for 13th (261+45), followed by Cierra Hoyle tied for 15th (263+47), Aaron Boyd in 21st (268+52), Brittney Harkins in 23rd (270+54) and Megan Boswell in 40th (291+75). In the past 4 years since the women's program began, the ladies have qualified for the NCCAA National Championship twice.
This year marks both the men and women teams highest finish in the NCCAA National Championship in school history. Congratulations to the Emmanuel College Golf Team on their impressive performance!
