HARTWELL, Ga. – The Men's golf team of Emmanuel College hosted the Emmanuel Invitational at Cateechee Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, March 23-24. The Lions played impressively well, bringing home a tournament championship as well as an overall tournament champion.
Posting a score of 295 on the first day of the tourney, Emmanuel College was the team to beat. The Lions kept the momentum of their 5-stroke lead over Southern Wesleyan University into Tuesday, where they listed another 295 score. This was good enough to best SWU by a stroke, ending the tournament with a 6-stroke win. The strongest performance on each day of the tournament belonged to Garret Bailey, with scores of an even 72 on Monday and a 3-under 69 score on Tuesday. This was good enough to earn the title of overall tournament champion by 3-strokes. Along with Bailey's 141 score, Emmanuel golf featured Jason Murphy, Drew Bryant, and Andrew Smith with two-day scores of 149, 150, and 150, respectively.
The Lions hope to improve even more on their performance in Pensacola, Florida at the Argonaut Invitational on March 30-31.
