Looking to end a three game skid the Lions sent Cooper Murphy to the mound. The senior right hander was up to the task facing the minimum twenty-one batters and throwing only 56 pitches in a complete game shutout. The Warriors only hit came on a weak chopper to short stop in the third inning. Murphy was able to retire the runner when he picked him off first base to end the only threat of the game. Jorge Villalobos got the Lion offense going in the fifth as he ripped a double over the left fielders head and moved to third on Dustin McNicholl's infield single. A sacrifice fly by Kyle LaCross would push across the only run the Lions would need. Later in the fifth a two out single by Brock Baughcum would score two insurance runs. Another RBI in the seventh by Baughcum would cap the scoring and secure the 4-0 win.
Cooper Murphy – Win – 7 Inning complete game shutout, 5 K's, 1 Hit
Brock Baughcum – 1-3, 3 RBI
Jorge Villalobos – 1-3, 2B, R
Dustin McNicholl – 1-2, BB, 2 R
In the night cap the Lion offense wasted no time getting on the board. Taking advantage of a Warrior defensive miscue the Lions were able to push four unearned runs across the plate with Dustin McNicholl putting an exclamation point on the inning with a two RBI double to left field. Livan Cordova took the mound for Emmanuel and worked out of first inning trouble allowing only one run and stranding two runners. Southern Wesleyan would threaten again in the third and fifth innings but Cordova was up to the challenge leaving all four runners at bay. In the top of the sixth Quinn Tomasino singled and came around to score on Kyle Gaura's double to left to extend the lead to 6-1. The Warrior offense looked primed to score in the sixth as they loaded the bases with only one down but Trey Campbell was able to induce two fielders choice ground outs to end the inning with no runners crossing home plate. Capitalizing on the momentum the Lions pushed across two more runs in the top of the seventh on a two RBI single by Tomasino. With a seven run lead Campbell would pass the ball off to Kyle Heuchert for the ninth inning. Heuchert wasted no time retiring the first three batters he faced in a row to close the door on the conference weekend.
