Lions Steal A Win Late Against the Golden Rams

ALBANY, Ga. - The Rams would strike first in game two with an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning off Lion starter Cooper Murphy. In the top of the second Jorge Villalobos would get the inning going with a four pitch walk followed by three straight singles by Kyle Gaura, Jacob Saulnier and Dustin McNicholl to take a one run lead. After falling behind, the Golden Rams would score runs in the next four innings and take a 7-2 lead in the seventh. Brock Baughcum would help spark the offense with an RBI single in the top of the seventh and cut the lead to four runs. Leading off the eighth inning Quinn Tomasino singled to third and Gaura walked. Jacob Saulnier singled to right field scoring Tomasino. With two runners on base a wild throw to first would allow two runners to come around to score and cut the lead to one run.

Looking to keep the momentum from the previous inning the Lions would send lead off man Brock Baughcum to the plate. Baughcum would reach base in front of Jake Nichols double down the left field line and put the tying and go ahead runs in scoring position. On the first pitch of his at bat Tomasino ripped an RBI single to right field to tie the game and move the go ahead run to third. The Lions would take the lead as Nichols scampered home on Villalobos Sacrifice Fly to right field.

The Golden Rams wouldn't go quietly in the ninth. A hit by pitch and single put the tying and winning runs on base. Reliever Adam Biss was able to get a pop out on a bunt attempt followed by a strike out before a walk loaded the bases. With the winning run now standing on second Biss wasted no time ending the game as he struck out the final batter on three straight pitches. The Lions look to close out the series tomorrow at 1:00pm.
