CORBIN, Ky. - The Emmanuel College archery team competed in the U.S. Archery Southeastern 3D Regionals at the Indian Springs Country Club on September 19th and 20th.
The competition was based on a double course consisting of 20 animals with a possible 440 points. The majority of targets were angled 45 degrees uphill.
Emmanuel Archery was represented by Kenneth Dacus (compound men), Kyle Decker (compound men), Marissa Fullard (bowhunter women), Rachel Reshonsky (recurve women), and Roger Hermosilla (recurve men).
The competition brought shooters from all over the Southeast and featured some of the top programs in the country, including University of the Cumberlands (ranked #2 nationally), Union College (#3), and University of Pikeville (#10). There were over 200 shooters in all.
Among the top finishers, Emmanuel's Rachel Reshonsky finished Regional Champion in Women's Recurve. Reshonsky had an impressive showing, leading the tournament from the start and finishing with a 30 point lead over the 2nd place finisher. Her final score of 354 and 4 bonus rings gave her the Gold Medal.
Roger Hermosilla also had a notable performance, finishing 3rd in Men's Recurve. Despite finishing with a strong score of 377 and 6 bonus rings to tie for 2nd place, Hermosilla lost his spot in the tiebreaker and took the Bronze Medal.
Next up, Emmanuel archery will compete at the USAT Shootout in Texas.
