Franklin Springs, GA - Assistant Athletic Director JaVonte' Ashford will be moving on from Emmanuel College to pursue other opportunities. For the past three years, JaVonte' has served as Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Success as well as the Athletics Event Coordinator. In his role, JaVonte' assisted in key decision making for the Athletic Department, served as a resource for students and staff, and helped develop relationships in the community.
JaVonte' came at a critical time during the advancement of Emmanuel College Athletics. Emmanuel had recently began the process of joining the NCAA. JaVonte' helped in assisting Emmanuel successfully transition to years 2 and 3 of this process. In addition, EC recently made huge strides athletically with the addition of multiple new sports and a need for solid leadership among coaches and athletes. He was able to step into this role and meet these needs as well as help continue the advancement of athletics.
JaVonte' has been an exceptional member and role model within Emmanuel Athletics. In addition to his outstanding work ethic and positive attitude, JaVonte' had the unique ability of relating to students, challenging them both academically and personally. During his time, Emmanuel made huge strides academically with his implementation of different programs that have led to Emmanuel consistently ranking in the top three among the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll List.
"It's been an honor and a blessing working at Emmanuel," Ashford said. "I have grown so much in my time here and because of that EC will always hold a special place with me. I am grateful and excited for my new opportunity, but will deeply miss the students, staff, and other relationships I have built in my time here. I especially want to thank Nate for entrusting me with this leadership opportunity and helping me develop professionally over the last several years."
Head Athletic Director Nate Moorman had the following to say, "JaVonte's leadership and commitment to our institution the past three years will be greatly missed. He has made a massive impact on Emmanuel College Athletics, and will unquestionably make a massive impact wherever he goes. We fully support him in pursing God's calling and using the gifts God gave him to serve others."
A search for a new Assistant Athletic Director will begin immediately.
